I can tell you for sure what drew me into this book. It isn't something I usually pick up. Although it is an easy beach read and it really isn't particularly deep, something about it felt new and fresh.

The story of Evelyn Hugo was so enticing and intriguing that I felt myself dying to know how each one of these marriages end.

Evelyn Hugo is a retired movie icon from the 50s, 60s, and 70s and she is filled with secrets. She is the only one that knows what happened behind the scenes of all of her public scandals and romances and she is ready to tell everything to a trusted reporter, Monique Grant, who she specifically requested. Why Monique?

The more I read, the more I fell in love with Evelyns character. She dug herself out of a poor lifestyle and has made many controversial decisions to get there, but ultimately she would do it again. She has used men to further her career in Hollywood and used her body as a means of persuasion and because of that she has felt the full force of sexism in the industry. She knows her flaws and has traded some of the most important aspects of her life for more roles, money, and fame and it is because she does all of these things that I love her.

I was completely pulled in from the minute I started it.
