2/5 Stars

I am actually very disappointed to say that this book was a major let down.

The story follows Lulu and Alex's romance on four field trips across four years, seeing how their relationship progresses as they grow and mature. The concept sounded so cute! From escape rooms to NYC to London, we see Lulu and Alex breakup, makeup and follow their dreams.

Everything about this book got me excited because it was such a cute concept of how everyday on May 7th they meet again on their class field trip and face the dynamics of their relationship, but the factor that got me excited about this book was actually it's major downfall.

The contents of the book only consist of the events that take place on every May 7th and then a few events that have happened in between if they are relevant.

I really hated the fact that the storyline just skipped through most of their relationship. It was extremely poorly executed. The pacing was poor and very strange and it was hard for me to keep up with whether or not I was reading a flashback or if I was in present day.

The relationship between Lulu and Alex was meh. I really was not feeling their chemistry at all and at times it was VERY toxic. They were very dependent on one another and dramatic for no reason; sometimes I felt like Kenneally just added their drama just to have something to fill the pages.

The character's were really one dimensional and flat. The only traits that I can point out about Lulu is that she likes to draw and is writing a graphic novel. Her interests were just things told to the reader, not things shown. Like in one chapter she was saying how she loves dancing, but it wasn't ever mentioned before that chapter and seemed kind of random. I feel like if someone really had a love for something, it would affect the way they see the world.

While I was reading this I really couldn't gage whether I'd give it a good review or not because of how blah it was. I couldn't turn off the critical part of brain while reading this, but if you think you can I would recommend this as a fast paced, easy to fly through and mindless read.
